There’s something about Gunn’s humor in Peacemaker and the Guardians movies that always feels very unnatural and distracting to me. For example in this most recent season where Adrian and Economos talk about animal facts, they both drone on and on as if the script is purposely delaying the punchline(s). This happens in the Guardians movies almost every time the characters are arguing as well, or during a scene like in Guardians 2 for example where Drax starts laughing at Quill for having feelings for Gamora, like “haha Mantis revealed your secret its so hilarious (right?)!”-- again, it feels very unnatural and in a way like Gunn is holding the audience’s hand to make sure they understood the joke as it played out in his head or something.

I don’t know how to explain it properly beyond examples like that, because it seems a lot of people don’t take issue with it or simply don’t notice. But again, for me its very glaring/distracting especially in Peacemaker where the humor is more raunchy, which makes it hard to enjoy a lot of the show.

Its strange because in Superman this issue is almost non-existent (just little scenes like during Clark and Lois’ interview, the Justice Gang’s humor, etc) as if Gunn was able to restrain himself, which would make sense for a project that big and needing to appeal to more people. But in Peacemaker its like Gunn’s humor is completely unleashed, and there’s so many unnecessary jokes-- or frankly even the most simple jokes that drag out for an uncomfortable amount of minutes.

I would appreciate if this post isn’t blindly downvoted, as I do want to hear genuine thoughts/have a discussion on this.
