Caught up to the latest episodes of Peacemaker and the show is killing it in a lot of areas. But arguably the biggest draw is the man himself - John Cena is carrying this show and I’m really blown away by just how good he’s become as a legitimate dramatic actor. He’s always had great charisma and screen presence to start, and eventually leveraged that into being a great comedic actor. But now I think he’s honestly just a really good actor by any metric and it’s hard to even use the wrestler-turned-actor thing as a descriptor. I feel like he brings so much depth and vulnerability to a character that initially sounded ridiculous on paper, and actually leveraging that ridiculousness to wring genuine pathos and emotion out of the narrative.

This is something James Gunn is just generally very good at regardless and it’s awesome that he’s found an actor that can really bring his storytelling to life so well.
