Hi guys, I was wondering what’s everyone’s thoughts on Steven Knight, the writer of Peaky Blinders and other acclaimed shows such as Taboo, A Thousand Blows, House of Guinness and Rogue Heroes. I’ve tried several of his shows that have been well reviewed and I wasn’t able to get into any of them. I’m not sure what it is but overall I felt that the shows were infatuated with their own characters, that the dialogue often seemed too modern and poorly written, that current day issues were being inserted into historical settings where they didn’t make sense, and also that the plots were poorly constructed, and a lot of times the shows just felt boring / plodding. Am I wrong?

He has had other shows that unfortunately seem to have been critically panned (See, A Christmas Carol, The Veil, Great Expectations, All The Light We Cannot See). It seems very strange to me that a writer would have a more or less 50/50 chance of producing either an acclaimed show or a panned one - usually writers are either consistently good or bad. Any thoughts / opinions / verdicts on him?
