This is my observation about the writing - not about any comments on how the show fits into the greater Alien franchise, because to me that has “I read the book and the book is better” vibes, which is to say, good for you that you read books, but also, no one cares.

The show does in fact have a high eye roll factor.

“Do you not have any self-preservation instincts?”…

“You are going to do WHAT without as much as a medical glove for protective gear?”…

“There are cameras everywhere, is ANYONE watching anything?”…

Fair enough, but at the same time I may ask - where have you been for the last few years?

Unregulated, flush with cash Big Tech has been basically run by reckless, immature kids. An epicenter of malice combined with incompetence. At this point a show where all characters make sharp, logical decisions would effectively be a fairy tale.

And maybe the writers took the point a bit too far (and I do think that was their intention), but it’s not that far from, say, the level of The Death of Stalin - a realistic chain of events sprinkled with just a bit of over-the-top farce.

If you look at it this way, the show may actually be enjoyable.
