Remember the whole strength of schedule argument that was inescapable on cfb social media last winter?

It might actually matter this year.

It will, to an extent.

The parity on display thus far into the season has been glorious.

Going into this weekend, the undefeated teams are listed:

ACC - 3

(3)Miami, (17)Georgia Tech, Louisville

Big 12 - 4

(11)Texas Tech, (14)Iowa State, (23)BYU, Houston

B1G - 4

(1)Ohio State, (2)Oregon, (8)Indiana, Maryland

SEC - 5

(4)Ole Miss, (5)Oklahoma, (6)Texas A&M, (16) Vanderbilt, (19)Missouri

G5

American - 3

Memphis, North Texas, Navy

MWC - 1

UNLV

This ensures that there will be more anarchy among fanbases boasting their appeals to be among the 7 at-large bids in the CFP.

It won’t simply be a few from one conference, like last year with Ole Miss, Alabama, or South Carolina

……or the occasional maniac advocating for BYU, while not even being a BYU fan themselves (he’s just bored, in his mid-40’s, wandering aimlessly around Instagram). Seriously, did anyone else encounter or remember that nutjob, too?

The arguing won’t be about which conference is more deserving (i.e B1G/SEC), because the current landscape in 2025 is proving that all four P4 conferences feature suitable contenders.

The arguing will likely be infighting among fanbases of individual conferences.

For example: 9-3 Illinois/Michigan, or 9-3 Alabama/Missouri

*On a personal note: If by some miracle Nebraska goes 9-3, and there ends up being much more parity in the B1G, most of our fanbase is aware that our schedule is not favorable enough to warrant boasting a claim for CFP selection. If other fans on the outside were to bicker about whether or not Nebraska deserves a spot, we’d just stand there like the hot chick at the house party that two drunk nimrods are pining for. “Aw, y’all fightin’ over lil ‘ol Me? ☺️”

That would be pretty gnar, honestly.

In just its second season of existence, the 12-team CFP race is going to be more stressful for obvious reasons, especially with the reactions that last season’s bracket reveal caused on social media.

Buckle the fuck up.
