And it makes me respect him all the more…

Look, I was willing to give the new season of The Witcher a chance. I read why Cavill decided to leave and I can’t knock him for that but then I saw that image they put out of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt and thought it didn’t look so bad.

But then the teaser was released and just good God. I should have known it would look like that but it was worse than I could have imagined. It was just dripping with what should be trademarked as the “Netflix Cinematography Effect.” We all know what I mean by that.

And then there’s the actual substance of the teaser, the look of the wraith, Geralt’s costume and movements, even the facial expressions just felt so forced and rehearsed (badly). All interest I had in seeing the new season withered away in less than two minutes. Just gone.

I honestly feel bad for Hemsworth because I feel like in another universe, this could have been the role for him. But this whole thing was already off to a rocky start because of where they wanted to take the story, Cavill leaving and the recasting, and now with what looks like shitty production value, I don’t imagine this show surviving for long. Maybe I’m wrong though.

If you’ve seen the trailer, what did y’all think?
