FSU leads the series with UVA 14-5. But in years ending in 5, UVA has never lost.
I know this because I was on the field after the 05 win and heard a man yell with sincere excitement
EVERY 10 YEARS!
As a child, that struck me as a sad thing to yell as you’re celebrating a win. But that man was on to something – in a world where it seems like nothing is promised or guaranteed, we can always count on the Hoos to beat the Noles on the 5s.
1995: #24 UVA beats #2 FSU 33-28 on a last second stop. Biggest win in program history.
2005: Unranked UVA beats #4 FSU 26-21. The game was the same day as the Bush Push so nobody really cared.
2015: No game. Noles dodged a bullet.
2025: Unranked UVA beats #8 FSU 46-38.
We don’t know if FSU plays UVA in 2035 yet but if I’m FSU, I’m trying to get out of the ACC to avoid a certain loss to the Hoos.
