FREMONT, Calif. (WKRC) - A man allegedly used a sex offender registry to find a pedophile, disguised himself as an accountant to kill him, then told police he thought “it should be cool” because “everyone hates pedophiles.”

The Fremont Police Department announced on September 18, police were called to a residence regarding a “violent altercation” between two people that resulted in one being “gravely injured.”

Officers discovered an unresponsive 71-year-old man at the scene suffering from “significant stab wounds,” per the release. He was soon pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, 29-year-old Varun Suresh, was found outside of the residence and was cooperative with police.

Police said Suresh did not know the victim, David Brimmer, before the incident, per a probable cause affidavit obtained by local outlet KTVU. Rather, Suresh reportedly used California’s Megan’s Law Website to find multiple local sex offenders and take screenshots of their profiles, which were later found by police.

Suresh allegedly told police that he wanted to kill a sex offender because “they hurt children” and “deserve to die.”

Suresh chased Brimmer around the residential street and into a neighbor’s house, eventually stabbing him in the neck in the neighbor’s kitchen, police said. Suresh ultimately killed Brimmer outside of the neighbor’s house, pinning him down and saying, “It’s over, you have to repent,” according to the affidavit. Suresh allegedly stabbed Brimmer in the neck and throat multiple times, eventually killing him by slitting his throat.

After police arrived and arrested Suresh, he allegedly admitted that he “wasn’t planning on getting away” with the killing, and said that he wanted to be arrested.

“I’m hoping that because [the victim is] a pedophile… like, everyone hates pedophiles… so like, it should be cool,” Suresh reportedly told police.

Furthermore, he said that he was not remorseful for the murder and “didn’t feel sad at all,” even saying the killing was “honestly really fun,” per the affidavit.
