Cover 3 podcast said it best.

“If you’re a wide receiver at Iowa, why even bother showing up to practice. Why even bother being a wide receiver at Iowa”

They’re not wrong. I genuinely feel bad for you Iowa fans. You’re a devoted, loyal fanbase that deserves better than this.

I get the argument I’ve heard from some Hawkeye fans, “If we didn’t have Kirk Ferentz, we’d be Wyoming”

But dawg, it’s about to be 2024. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. This program is being held back by nepotism, complaceny, comfort, a complete lack of desire to step out of their bubble, all the while the football world is moving forward.

I’m not from the Midwest, but every region has its stereotypes. For example, socal is glamor, Hollywood, liberal, $19 avocado toast Jesus sandals and man buns. I get that.

But Iowa right now just feels like the stereotype of the Midwest and I can’t imagine recruits looking at Iowa and wanting to play there if they’re offensive skill positions.

Iowa is boring, traditional, slow moving, slow to change, conservative by nature(football wise). Kind of every stereotype much of the country has come to know the generic Midwest by(true or not). They don’t make for good TV, and in an age of social media, TV ads, revenue rights etc, that stuff matters.

Anyways, hope you Iowa fans get something better in the future. You deserve it. /rant.
