When Somebody Somewhere premiered in 2022, I didn’t expect it to be the kind of comedy that would leave me emotional by the end of almost every episode. But here we are, 3 years later, and Jeff Hiller just earned a major Emmy win for Supporting Actor. And I swear, no one deserves it more.

It’s rare to see a comedy lean so deeply into authenticity. The writing is tender, Bridget Everett and Jeff Hiller bounce off each other like they were made to share the screen, and the small-town Kansas setting feels as much a character as the cast.

The win feels like a recognition of a show that isn’t afraid to be quiet, funny, and painfully real at the same time. Does anyone else here feel like this series speaks louder than a lot of louder, flashier comedies?
