People often complain that people are “too sensitive” and you can’t get away with certain things these days, but I see the opposite. Nowadays, TV shows get to do and say things that TV shows of yesteryear could never dream of due to censorship.

Back in the day, you couldn’t get away with showing an interracial relationship out of fear of offending bigots, now you can. You couldn’t get away with two gay characters kissing out of fear of offending bigots, now you can. You couldn’t depict the reality that people had pre-marital sex, now you can.

Even kids shows get away with more things than they used to, censorship has gotten a bit more lenient. Nobody was ever allowed to actually die in G.I. Joe or He-Man, whereas now characters in Star Wars cartoons are killing people and committing war crimes left and right.

So what other things would get censored in older TV shows that are now commonly accepted?
