Welcome to week 2 of the 2025 r/NFL Power Rankings, and welcome /u/jdpatric as the latest addition to team. The citizens of Green Bay extended a heartfelt thank you for Micah Parsons while Dallas was busy both living and dying by Russell’s moonballs. Seattle recovered a kickoff for a touchdown, the second time in NFL history (Bills Jets 2016), while the Danny Dimes Dollars led Colts became the first team in the Super Bowl era to not punt in the first two weeks. Naturally this feat is worthy of a Bob Wylie-esque celebration. Kelce spiked his helmet right into the hands of Andrew Mukuba, Butker’s kicks are more radical by the week, but at least Kansas City gets half a win for holding Hurts to under 100 yards passing…right? Meanwhile both SNF quarterbacks barely crossed that same threshold, but JJ McCarthy gets a pass this week on account of parental duties and Justin Fields did it first and there was also black paint in my eye and I couldn’t see half the field. Last season, after two weeks the Saints came out swinging; is Spencer Rattler doing his best Carr impression or will he continue to ball? What will Burrow’s injury mean for the Bengals? Discuss! 31/32 Reporting

1. | Bills | +1 | 2-0 | That was a dominant performance from start to finish. The Bills jumped on the Jets from the get-go with a 7 and a half minute touchdown drive followed up by a fumble recovery. James Cook was the catalyst for the Bills offense turning 21 carries into 132 yards and two touchdowns. Any concerns there may have been about the Bills defense after allowing 40 points to the Ravens in the previous week were erased as the Bills held the Jets to a measly 10 points. Next up is an AFCE rivalry matchup where the Bills will look to pick up another win against the Miami Dolphins.
2. | Eagles | – | 2-0 | In the last two seasons, NFL teams not called the Philadelphia Eagles are 5-17 with under 100 net passing yards in a game. The Eagles somehow didn’t get the memo that that’s a bad thing, and are 4-0 with under 100 net passing yards (h/t to Sheil Kapadia for that stat). The Eagles keep doing things “wrong” yet still keep winning. It’s really the perfect situation for us Philadelphians: winning, yet still enough to complain about on Monday. The biggest question mark right now is Kevin Patullo’s playcalling, giving all of us nightmare flashbacks to the Brian Johnson experience. He gets more than two weeks to settle in, but Eagles fans are eager to see Jalen let the ball fly a little more. On an unrelated note, it’s great to see the Tush Push discourse finally settle and we can all agree it’s a perfectly reasonable play.
3. | Packers | +1 | 2-0 | It was said that the Packers were going to have issues stopping the run by replacing Kenny Clark with Micah Parsons. Well, the Packers became the first team since the 2013 Broncos to play 2 top half rushing teams from the previous year to start the season and allow less than 100 rushing yards total. The undersized front 7 makes up for their lack of mass by being insanely quick to the ball; Quay Walker and Edge Cooper especially have been excellent backers. Cannot say enough good things about the defense. Oh yeah the offense also put up 27 points again! What more could you want?
4. | Ravens | -1 | 1-1 | Big home divisional win in all 3 phases of the game. Pass protection and accuracy was shaky to start the game, running game never found it’s footing, defense missed out on a few turnover opportunities and yet they still managed to put 41 on the board with a nearly 4 score margin of victory against what is a tougher and more talented roster than many realize. Being able to put out that kind of performance even on an off day is the hallmark of an ELITE team.
5. | Chargers | +2 | 2-0 | Polytheistic religions, whether ancient or modern, lost in history or still practiced, almost always have a god who oversees some form of defense. Greek mythology had Athena, the goddess of strategy and city protection, while the Romans had Securitas, the goddess of security (obviously). The Egyptians worshipped Bastet not only for her jurisdiction over cats, but also for her eternal command over protection. The Dharmapala act as protectors of the Dharma in Buddhism, and Hinduism, of course, has Vishnu: the protector of the universe. And then there’s the religion of the Los Angeles Chargers, where we all worship Jesse Minter: the god of crippling defense. He graced SoFi Stadium when we needed him most; the tyrannical wrath of Brandon “I’m going to be calling the defenses” Staley led to a fourth straight season of sitting in the bottom 11 teams for points allowed. With the glorious depth-building of fellow savior Joe Horitz, Minter restored the once-pillaged SoFi with elegant, bend-don’t-break defensive schemes that actually take advantage of his players’ skillsets and make QBs like Geno Smith look like a backup again. We now must pray to him as he once more curses Bo Nix with Mo Pix next Sunday.
6. | Lions | +2 | 1-1 | The Lions systematically dismantled the Chicago Bears last night, utterly spoiling Ben Johnson’s return to Detroit. Jared Goff was absolutely clinical, throwing for over 330 yards along with 5 touchdowns. ARSB had the first 3 touchdown game of his career, Jamo averaged 54 yards a catch, and Isaac TeSlaa had another spectacular one-handed snag. On defense Brian Branch continued to make plays with a sack, 2 TFLs, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble. Kerby Joseph snagged his first interception of the year and Hutch his first sack to finish off the get-right game for Detroit. Next up is the Baltimore Ravens, who the Lions haven’t beaten since October, 2005.
7. | Rams | +3 | 2-0 | The Rams have looked awfully impressive through two weeks after taking care of business versus the Titans. They had another signature slow start, but McVay’s halftime adjustments put them on cruise control in the second half. Stafford looks every bit as good as he ever has, Nacua and Adams are arguably the best WR tandem in the NFL, and the defense is #1 so far with only one TD allowed. Unfortunately, next up is the only team to beat the Rams over their last 11 games (excluding week 18). Keys to the game: don’t start slow, and contain the run. Easier said than done.
8. | Buccaneers | +1 | 2-0 | Albert Einstein said that E=MC², but the Buccaneers say E²=TD. Emeka Egbuka might actually be a genuine ROTY contender. For the Bucs that would be the first ever offensive ROTY since Cadillac Williams in 2005! And did you know that this MNF matchup was the most stressful Buccaneers game since 7 Sep. 2025? They broke their “not giving their fans a heart attack” streak that was spanning over 7 days! The Blockbuster Buccaneers continue bringing the heat and top-notch entertainment in their games. Bucco Bake keeps slinging and banging, the defense keeps hittin-or-missin, the offensive line keeps blockin-and…and…well, getting injured, but Todd Bowles will continue no-selling the problems with his trademark stoicism face and just keep winning. That’s 5 years in a row with a 2-0 start for what was once the worst franchise in all of American sports.
9. | Chiefs | -4 | 0-2 | The first week of the season the Chiefs looked flat coming out but the defense was the clear issue. On Sunday, the offense never seemed to get going while the defense managed to keep one of the best offensive rosters in the NFL in check for almost the entire game. Unfortunately, it feels like the goal of the first third of the season is just survive; going 3-3 seems like a monumental task, but if the Chiefs can manage that winning the division still feels like a totally reasonable expectation and this team has shown in the past that all they need is to get into the dance.
10. | Commanders | -4 | 1-1 | "Jayden Daniels had an MRI on his knee"… this is fine. Look, there are a slew of excuses we can draw up; it was Thursday Night Football, a short week, a road game, against a Super Bowl favorite, against a phenomenal defense, against Micah Parsons (seriously, Jerry?), Terry & Jayden are out of sync, injuries, rookie RT, etc. Whatever anyone wants to chalk it up to, the truth is the Commanders were outmatched and outplayed, and had no answers. Perhaps the silver lining is that it’s only September, and a 10-day rest is here before the team has to go out against a potentially more managea… |
