When Bargatze mentioned he was doing shows out of town the weekend before hosting the Emmy Awards, Jimmy half jokingly noted that the days before the show were opportunities to rehearse … and Nate seemed unconcerned but … I think maybe he would have benefited from one more rehearsal.
A rehearsal might have allowed them to figure out the timing on that Boys & Girls Club gag, so that it didn’t stress everyone out (probably should have scratched the idea entirely — people watch for the award speeches, if they wanted to trim time they could probably make the presenters speed up).
Also, he messed up a few jokes , got his words mixed up.
Also, while I love the Washington sketch, he probably should have done something new. He bet on the SNL writers instead of betting on himself for that opening.
He is an awesome comic but yeah. Just a little bit more rehearsal probably could have made a huge difference.
