initially i wanted to reply to something someone claimed about the show how the main character is “dumb, selfish, alcoholic, everyone who helps her gets in trouble and its a bad show” and i was like :DDDD???

anyways, id post the screenshot but i cant because im new, i suppose (yes i joined just for this)

also wanna spread awareness about way more deep/dark/chaotic/psychological content that people “dont get” or call the characters “dumb, selfish and alcoholic” like ???

while mental health is a thing and television is a domain that struggles sooo hard to EXPRESS it and throw it in ur place, meanwhile people be like “that character is stupid/the show is bad/its boring/its cringe/omg she keeps crying/wow hes so insane hes a psychopath”

so ill stop yapping and share my reply:

so are u like one of those people who dont understand psychology, trauma, mental illnesses/etc presented/expressed through television? or this + stuff like this triggers something in you personally and mentally that wont let you accept/enjoy/process content of the sort?

Cassandra Bowden has severe PTSD, probably borderline personality disorder, probably ADHD, but most definetly has psychotic episodes (doubt that it might be schizophrenia) BECAUSE of her childhood and how her subconscious had to literally rewrite everything, hide, forget things. What the character Cassie is going through, MENTALLY, is something real, is something that exists, it’s happened to me to, things i remembered from my childhood now, in therapy, at 23, things i still have trouble pieceing together, and yes, I myself suffer from bipolar, borderline, and also have psychotic breakdowns (not episodes where she teleports somewhere else in her head and sees stuff and speaks to something else, however those things are clear symptoms of psychosis, and yes, those things exist as well :D)

so yeah, if a show is too sensitive/realistic for you, it might mean you just dont get it, and “i dont understand this” ≠ “this is bad”

however, alcoholic, selfish, etc, what you said about cassie is true, a lot of troubled people can turn out, well, troubled

who the fūck would’ve thought??

hope this helps you understand the show better :)
