The #CobraKaiAward for Excellence in Mercilessness has been going since 2018, recognizing the most cutthroat performance in each week’s college football games.
It includes all levels: FBS, FCS, D2, D3, NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA, U Sports🇨🇦, ONEFA🇲🇽 and JAFA🇯🇵 to spotlight which team tosses mercy out the window and instead uses the opportunity to make a statement.
We did not have a Week 1 post because of the staggered start of D3, which has previously been an active challenger for early-season bloodlust. Indeed, Calvin blasted Oberlin, 88-6…perhaps it was predestination? Yet Calvin only game in 3rd this week!
Week 2 winner:
- 94-0… Georgia Military College vaporized one of the worst college programs on the planet earth—and folks, the Cobra Kai Committee looks worldwide as you can see below: Community Christian College (Redlands, CA) is part of a chain of CCCs that all seem to get obliterated whenever they take a field against an actual program. The one in Redlands (Inland Empire just east of Los Angeles) is probably the worst among them. In their first two games they have lost 86-12 to New Mexico Military Institute (they has been good before… but this week NMMI lost 76-8 to Hutchinson CC…). There’s no box score available for the 94-0 game. We can only imagine what happened. 34 points in the 4th quarter looks like they were all-gas, no brakes!
A different CCC campus (“Southwest” in Houston, the Raiders) won the Week 1 Cobra Kai Award against Kilgore College, 80-0 (with -18 of total offense!). I will probably dive into breaking down more on these teams as they are incredible vague about who and where they are, but at least some of them somehow qualify as NJCAA members.
The week 10 top scorer from each level, in order of margin of victory (points-allowed is tiebreaker):
- [94] NJCAA—Georgia Military College, 94-0 over Community Christian College (Redlands, CA)
- [83] JAFA🇯🇵—Hokkai-Gakuen, 83-0 over Tokyo Agriculture-Okhotsk
- [82] D3—Calvin, 88-6 over Oberlin
- [74] FBS—#14 Florida State, 77-3 over East Texas A&M*
- [61] CCCAA—Southwestern CC, 71-10 over Orange Coast
- [59] NAIA—#19 Dordt, 66-7 over Dakota Wesleyan
- [59] D2—Carson-Newman, 59-0 over “SC Central Christian”
- [t-56] FCS—#1 North Dakota State, 59-3*** over Tennessee State
- [t-56] FCS—#5 Tarleton State, 59-3*** over MVSU
- [44] USports🇨🇦—Saskatchewan, 51-7 over UBC
- [37] ONEFA🇲🇽—Borregos MTY, 44-7 over Borregos GDL
* FBS vs FCS; the FBS vs FBS was #21 Alabama’s 73-0 win over ULM [73]
** “SC Central Christian College” is not a member of the NCAA or NAIA and should be considered a club team; D2 vs D2 was #1 Ferris State, 63-6 over Lake Erie [57]
*** A Cobra Kai Tie disgusts us, too.
