I’m a sucker for shows about dedicated, competent professionals doing their job well. Think ER, Law and Order, etc. Even The West Wing could be considered. Early seasons of House, Suits, and Grey’s Anatomy as well.

It seems to me that 90s/early 2000s series of this kind focused really well on just this - the people solving hard problems. They had occasional personal drama between characters or some other side distraction but it was rare New episodes of existing shows or new shows of this type are focused much more on every character sleeping with everyone else, personal issues, passion and personal issues causing them to make stupid amateur mistakes for the sake of creating drama, etc. It’s gotten really cheap and predictable, it’s just a bunch of incompetent people sleeping with each other. Thanks for listening to my rant :)
