Recently, I finally found the way how to rewatch this TV movie from 1991 and I forgot how good it was and how insane the cast was. Everytime I tried to find it on DVD, I only got the version with Catherine Zeta Jones but this one, with Julia Ormond, seems a bit forgotten. And it got Emmy nomination for Vanessa Redgrave.
I am amazed how well it is done. Of course, the budget did not allow too big crowd scenes but they did so good with what they had and however there was an artistic license (as with everything historical, of course), it works very well
It was also one of Julia Ormond´s first roles (I think she was only on TV shows, not really movie sets) and she really made it work.
Also, I had no idea Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero were married - he recently told the story how they met and I loved it.
