Original Title: Alien Earth: The latest ep was absolutely thrilling and wonderful story telling. But there was one technical detail that just killed my immersion due to it being so egregiously stupid. [SPOILERS for Alien Earth]
the following contains SPOILERS for Alien Earth
SPOILERS PEOPLE! dont read if you don’t want spoiled
so you spent billions upon billions of dollars on a space exploration for one purpose: to capture alien life forms and bring them back to earth. Alien life forms that you value far far more than the humans you hired to retrieve them. Its a top priority of your trillion dollar corporate empire, which you rule the world by.
and the container you brought to keep these unknown life forms in? Its like your grandmas mason jar. Only with thinner glass. Are you fucking kidding me right now? Have you ever heard of plexiglass for instance?
Its a space ship. Things go bump in the night all the time. A fragile glass container sitting on a table could get knocked over at any time. A FUCKING MORON would know to use something a little more robust.
Yes its a small detail but its a critical part of the episode and it just makes NO SENSE at all. ITs just mind bogglingly stupid. The worst part is that the writers could have had them use high tech plexiglass (I think in another Alien movie they did have that?) and wrote around it. I mean get creative, figure it out. Don’t just be like “well they used a jam jar for containing the most amazing alien life form we have ever encountered”
Okay flame me. Tell me I’m being pedantic or I’m like that guy in the simpson’s who complains about the skeleton xylophone. I don’t care, its still really really supid.
