Most sitcoms have go-to joke setups, ones that you can always see coming.
Often they become tiresome, but every so often there’s one that will always make you laugh, no matter how telegraphed it is.
For me, Curb Your Enthusiasm does this. The animosity between Larry David and his friend Jeff’s wife, Susie, follows a predictable formula.
Larry enters a room.
Susie is happy to see Larry, secretly liking the guy. “Hey La!”
Susie and Jeff discuss a trivial topic with Larry.
Within a minute, Larry says something inappropriate and Susie flips, telling him to “get the fuck outta here!”
No matter how many times they’ve used this, it always makes me laugh
