So I used to love the Love Boat, thought the show was a lot of fun, thought the crew was great. Watched an episode today, and discovered almost the entire crew seems to be jerks, and the stories seem to be infantile. Have my tastes changed that much, or did I just watch the worst episode of the Love Boat that was ever made?
In the first two minutes of the episode, Doc was acting like a jerk, hitting on a woman multiple times, nearly stalking her. When she finally agreed to spend time with him, though still not being into him at all, he says forget it, she’s too cold. What was he expecting? He was being a jerk.
Isaac was the same, hitting on someone who didn’t want the attention, and she was shooting him down several times. Then after a commercial break, she was suddenly all into him for no reason.
Someone who is supposed to be captaining their own ship after a short run of helping Captain Stubbing in this episode is a complete idiot who ignores an on-coming hurricane because he’s too clueless to do anything, and the Captain, several crew members, and several passengers end up being held prisoner by an idiot holding a gun that is almost certainly built of random island junk, and kept locked in a thatched hut that a small child could probably tear apart a wall of, unable to escape.
How did I once love this show? Was my taste *that* bad?!?
