As someone of maybe the right age and musical tastes, I just had to pause in the middle of episode 4 to say in just the last 40 minutes of showtime the soundtrack has perfectly used “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by Metallica, “Machine Gun” by Band of Gypsies (Jimi Hendrix) and “Sober” by Tool! Firstly, they must have spent as much for song rights as actor salaries to make this show and secondly if there’s an Emmy or something for this sort of thing (Fargo season 2 is a much better show and has a fantastic soundtrack just off the top of my head) but 2025 has to have this show in front.

I will also add that episode number 9 of Dexter:Resurrection using “Gimmie Danger” by Iggy and the Stooges was another great example for perfect song=perfect scene. Radiohead on the final season of “Handmaid’s Tale” was also excellent. And the criminally already cancelled first season of “Duster” had a massive amount of great 70’s tunes to match the action.

Anyone else notice how good “Terminal List:Dark Wolf” soundtrack is or have other examples? The use of popular music over instrumental music on most tv and film since the new millennium is something that I have a personal interest in and give a ton of credit to filmmaker’s like Tarantino, Wes Anderson and Scorsese for making it a big part of the film or show as a whole.
