Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that the missile strike on an alleged drug cartel boat in the Caribbean is an example of how President Trump is “going to wage war” against international drug traffickers.

“If you’re on a boat full of cocaine or fentanyl or whatever headed to the United States, you are an immediate threat to the United States,” Rubio said during a joint press conference with Mexico’s foreign minister.

Trump said on Tuesday that the strike killed 11 people, all alleged to be members of the Venezuelan cartel Tren de Aragua, on board a small vessel in the southern Caribbean. He later shared footage of the attack on social media.

“The strike occurred while the terrorists were at sea in International waters transporting illegal narcotics, heading to the United States,” Trump wrote in a post accompanying the video.
