I’ve been wanting to watch a good sci-fi series for a while, and I recently found out about Babylon 5. I value the time I spend watching shows because nowadays there’s an incredibly large amount of shows that are all super good and my list is already really long. When it comes to sci-fi, all these other shows like Stargate, BSG etc. these just do not interest me for some reason. From what I’ve seen so far about Babylon 5, it’s kinda interesting but is it really that great like people are saying, or it was just really good for the 90s?

A few points:

  • I watched “The Gathering” and episode 1 of B5 so far, and now I’m wondering if the series is really worth the time investment or not. 22 episodes for each season is a lot.

  • A lot of people who are saying that it’s really good and stuff might be older people who had nothing else to watch at that time, similar to Star Trek TNG, people who originally watched when “Locutus” happened probably think it’s the best thing ever, it’s a good episode for sure but it’s not that big of a deal when you think about it with today’s standards

  • I love Mass Effect and I heard that it is heavily inspired by this show

  • I like the original Star Wars movies and the show Andor a lot

  • I love shows that are like The Orville and I like stuff that’s about aliens and like their culture, what they’re like, etc. (I thought the scene where Garibaldi was showing Delenn cartoons and they were eating popcorn was adorable)

  • I don’t really care about the effects and CGI not being that great (I think episode 1 looked alright and I like the alien’s looks)

  • I initially had the same thought about the Dark Crystal series, I kept not watching it because I didn’t think it would be that good, it ended up being one of my favourite shows
