S1 has a strong horror and noir vibe to it. They had an insanely strong writers room. The storylines, arcs, and side-plots were all engaging and there was nothing ever introduced that didn’t have a purpose.
The dialogue is clever, witty and soaked with dark humor. The directors and cinematographers were outstanding and really captured that ‘‘Miami feel’’ that S5-8 just didn’t have.
The lighting and photography had a fuzzy and art deco vibe to it. The colors were vibrant, yet dim, to highlight the seedier side of the city. The show got the temperature right, i.e. the sweat stains. Even the music was better, and the show stayed true to the Cuban and Latin roots that help make up the city.
it doesn’t need to about serial killers but I can’t find anything else specifically like this season and I tried Hannibal
