I’ve just finished watching the first two seasons of Mr Inbetween and honestly I don’t really get the hype yet. It’s rated super high everywhere (like 8.7 on IMDb), but for me it hasn’t hit the way people talk about it.
I’ve seen shows like Barry that felt sharper, more layered, and overall more engaging, so part of me feels like I must be missing something here. This actually happened with me and Fleabag too — the first time through I thought it was good but not mind-blowing. Then I read some threads, dug into the theories and themes, and when I rewatched it, it clicked and became one of my all-time favorites.
So I’m wondering is Mr Inbetween one of those shows where you need to dig deeper to really get what makes it special, or is it more of a straightforward crime drama/dark comedy without too much hidden underneath?
Should I push through to Season 3, or if it hasn’t grabbed me by now, maybe it’s just not for me? Curious to hear how others experienced it (again, please no S3 spoilers).
