At the end of last season, Sky Sports’ rights to CFB expired and so now, with less than a week to go, College Football fans in the UK are unable to legally watch the sport we all love.
For those who don’t know, Sky Sports’ offering was acceptable, but not great - they showed one Notre Dame game and one SEC game per week, before that BT Sports (who are now TNT Sports) showed multiple games per week.
With the NCAA clearly looking at growth into new markets - after the success of the Dublin game just last week and a scheduled game in Germany - this stops any CFB progression overseas.
Granted, College Football isn’t huge in the UK, but it’s certainly growing and there is a small, but dedicated following and we just want to be able to watch it without resorting to crappy streams.
I know this post is mainly a rant, but if anyone has any inroads with broadcasters/rights people in the US/UK we’d all be very grateful!
