The NSAC is an Independent College Athletic conference for schools that are in the USCAA, NCCAA, and overall independent athletics programs. The conference is currently home to 17 schools (Including affiliate members) across 9 sports (M Basketball, W Basketball, Football, Men’s Soccer, Track, Volleyball, Baseball, Softball & Women’s Flag Football). They are commonly referred to as a USCAA conference due to 2 of their most notable members Apprentice and Atlantic being USCAA members but the conference itself isn’t recognized by the USCAA due to having non-USCAA members.

In the NSACs first football season the coaches poll is split between north and south. In a poll of the league’s football coaches, Clayton State and Lighthouse Christian are the projected winners of the NSAC’s North Division and South Division respectively for 2025. The poll, taken earlier this week, sets the expectations (and bulletin board material) for the New South’s first season of gridiron action. 8 schools are competing in the 2025 season but 2 more NSAC members that are playing football this year as independents.

North Rankings

North #1 Clayton State is a coming off a 6-4 season in the NCFA South Atlantic conference as a club team where they lost in the NCFA national Championship. In 2025 they were a club team and will be competing as one again but they went 1-3 against varsity teams and 2-0 against future NSAC foes. They have a total of 11 returning NCFA All-Americans, 3across the DL, 2 on the OL, 2 WRs, 2 LBs and 2 DBs as well as one of the WRs (Matthew Faulkner) being the 2024 Offensive Player of the year. They open their season against NSAC rival Gordon State on .

A bit of a surprise at North #2 is Sicko Favorite from my series last season South Carolina Central Christian College (aka S4C). They went either 3-4 or 2-5 last season picking up wins over 2 NCFA programs in UNC-Greensboro and future conference foe Gordon State and maybe beating the Hardeeville Vikings but no score can be found despite me knowing they did play. They lost to some pretty solid competition dropping 4 games against varsity opponents including #1 NSAC South Lighthouse Christian. They open their season traveling to NAIA Kentucky Christian on 8/30.

Somehow Dropping all the way to #3 in the north is Apprentice School a USCAA staple and imo the team who had the best season last year Going 5-5 with the strongest Strength of Schedule in the north last season. They had all 5 varsity wins including a win in the Neptune Bowl against future NSAC foe Atlantis 59-6. Their all losses came to quality opponents in 2 D3 teams, 2 NJCAA teams and Army Prep. Apprentice will be led by returning SO running back duo Colby Messe and Ty Taylor with a Competition at signal caller my money is on Sophomore Eduardo Rios to be the guy after starting after an inury and leading the Builders to a 2-3 record as a freshman, He’ll have plenty of help from Senior receiving duo Jasiah Beacham & TK Petty both returning with over 700yds last season despite the QB turmoil. On defnese their led by returning tackle leader SR LB Chase Gayness and Sophomore DL Adonus Watson who tied for the most sacks last season with 4.5. The historic program with over 100 seasons under belt their official season will kickoff 2025 traveling to D3 Southern Virginia on 9/6 who the beat 44-9 when they hosted them last year.

Coming in at last place in the North is 1st year program Barber-Scotia College who is starting their 1st ever football season after failing to start a team over 2 decades ago in 2003. Their led by Transfer QB Cahke Cortner from Defiance college and WR’s Tony Morgan & Chan Thomas as well as a versatile Backfield led by the experienced Anthony Bridgewater and versatile Mehki Horne while the Defense will be anchored by IDL Gerald Baker (6’3 280lbs) and led by MLB Tristan Ramsey. They will kick off their season hosting NSAC non-football member Central International College on 9/6.

South Rankings

The clear #1 in the South is Lighthouse Christianwho are coming off an 8-1 ICAA championship season where they had 9 1st team all-conference players. They’re taking a massive leap in coaching talent including being led by new HC Dave Wilson who has spent time with 3 power 5 programs, OC Sam Satterwhite who worked with Alabama, and DC/ Director of Football Bob Schneider who helped launch Southeastern University football. Last season they played a mostly postgrad/Independent JuCo schedule however they did pick up a dominant win against future NSAC foe S4C winning 31-12. They kick off their season hosting South

South #2 Gordon State is a coming off a 2-3 season in the NCFA South Atlantic conference as a club team. In 2025 they were a club team and will be competing as one again they are a historically powerful program just 3 seasons removed from their 9-1 2022 National Championship where they only lost to Juco Powerhouse Georgia Military. Last season they played 2 future NSAC opponents S4C and clayton state losing by only a total of 13 points. with an offense lef by 6’3 SR QB Casey Stephens I think they take a pretty solid step step up especially with a defense anchored by NT 6’3 385lbs(!!!) Javieous Allen.

The # 3 in the South is USCAA member Atlantis University coming off a 5-6 season dropping all 3 games against varsity opponents and 0-2 against NSAC opponents both by ~50 points vs Clayton State and Apprentice. This season they only play 3 Varsity opponents once again, 5 post grad teams and 1 club team. I expect them to finish a bit worse than last years team since their facing less PG teams (5 compared to 7) while picking up an extra regular season game against a high level opponent.

Last place in the south is every small school in Texas’s favorite OOC punching bag Westgate Christian. WCU had maybe the strongest Strength of Schedule out of all the conference members last season playing a 6 game, full varsity, traveling team schedule against 1D2, 1 NAIA, and 4 D3 opponents. This season is looking pretty Similar but they will also be picking up games against Louisiana CCC (Maybe a PG maybe a Juco), Semi-Varsity 1st year D3 program Schreiner Mountaineers, and both the Club teams in the NSAC. Varsity opponent wise they will be playing Atlantis and Lighthouse in NSAC South play as well as traveling to D3 Centenary and Austin College, D2 Northeastern State, and even FCS Arkansas Pine Bluff so their once again pining to have the strongest schedule in Conference which should help selling recruits. But 1st they kick off their season traveling to Louisiana Community Christian.

NSAC Non-Football members

Like i mentioned earlier their are 3 schools that are apart of the NSAC who sponsor football who won’t be participating in the NSAC for various reasons in the 2025 season. Those schools are the South Georgia Institute Huskies and Central International College Cardinals.

The Central International Cardinals did not seem to have a team last year but they are the hardest team to find anything about I have ever dealt with. I have a better time finding NAIA JV stats most of the time. It looks like their last season was in 2023 where they advertised playing at a D2 level despite only playing 7 games (they apparently went 5-2 but all 5 of their wins were 7-0 which is a little suspicious) and playing only 1 even being a JuCo football opponent in Louisburg College out of NC. Their official website hasn’t been updated since 2023 and their athletics social media pages since 2017 & 2019 respectively. However I’m ~99% sure they plan on playing this season since they appear on 3 separate teams schedules that I’ve looked at, They play @ Connecticut State Wildcats on 8/30, @ Barber-Scotia College on 9/6, and in a Neutral Sight matchup against South Carolina Central in the “Bible Belt Bowl” on 11/8.

South Georgia Institute, who used to Omega Sports Academy one of the most functional Post Grad academies is now dipping into being a full fledged college athletic program. They already sponsor 7 full sports and have an educational agreement with Northwest University to cover the gap while they finish laying the ground work for their own, In-House curricula after taking over Norman College in Norman Park, GA’s campus after they shut down. SGI already has their MBB, WBB, Baseball, Cross Country and Track teams competing in the NSAC with plans to move their CFB and Volleyball program soon. Last season they competed in the ICAA with Lighthouse Christian where I can’t find their record but they played 0 NSAC opponents. This year they play 3 NSAC games against Apprentice, Barber-Scotia and Lighthouse which is a full conference schedule so I’m not sure why they aren’t competing but they also play 2 more varsity opponents in Andrew College and U Ft. Lauderdale while rounding out the rest of their schedule against PG and JV opponents.

John Melvin Christian College, a very popular college every time I post about them. This is their Pensacola, Florida location which didn’t have a team last year but John Melvin University, their Louisiana location did and they are transferring the football program to JMCC but I honestly don’t think their playing this year since they have a very well ran athletics department and nothing is mentioned on any of their locations about it. However if they do they play 3 NSAC opponents @ Lighthouse on 9/13, vs Gordo…
