I can’t remember the last time that we had a week 1 game of this magnitude, and it made me realize that because of that, every other time we’ve at least gotten a warm-up game to figure out what do we look like in this new season.

But with this being week 1, it’s straight to the fire. We’re all about to find out at the same time how good Arch Manning and Julian Sayin are, whether the UT Oline found good replacements, how good are all the new starters on defense for OSU, etc.

There are some know quantities - we know Jeremiah Smth and Caleb Downs are certified monsters. We know Anthony Hill and Collin Simmons are monsters. But there are a lot of new faces going into this game.

Which has left me in this state of “what am I most worried about - whether our new faces are good, or whether their new faces are good”?

I think for us, I’m most worried about whether our offense - which replaces a lot of talent - will be ready to go and in sync as soon as the game starts. Hostile environment and we’re going to have new starters at QB, 2 WRs, 3 Olinemen… even with Ohio State replacing basically the entire front side of their defense, that’s still a lot of uncertainty going in. I also generally expect that even losing a bunch of talent, Ohio State will have the talent to reload so it’s not like we’re going up against scrubs just because you’re replacing starters.

So a slow start, on the road, with a lot of new faces? Not ideal.

How is everyone else feeling?
