Hi,
I’m a university teacher, and until last year, a person was paid to take photographs of all the students and create a file for each class containing the pictures with the associated names. I rely on those documents to learn my students’ names, and it’s something that I consider as crucial! My students are not just numbers (as many teachers here seem to think), and knowing all of their names early in the year is important to me.
The problem is that this year the person in charge of doing that will not do it for some reason. Some of my colleagues decided to use their own phones to take pictures of the students in class (with a sign with their names), but I don’t really feel comfortable doing that.
So, I’d like to ask students to take pictures of themselves, rename the file with the format ‘firstname name.jpg’ (or something like that), send those to me, and I was wondering if there was some way to more or less automatically create a document with 9 or 12 pictures on each page, with the file name under the picture. It seems relatively basic, but I don’t know much about photography or related open source software linked to design or stuff like that, so I figured that this community may have some tips. If no software can do that for me, what would be the easiest (and fastest) way to do it?
Thanks a lot for any advice you may give, and do not hesitate to tell me if you need more information! :)
