I’ve always found Baltar from Battlestar Galactica to be a very pathetically funny character. The actor just has this way about him that kills me everytime he’s in over his head. Certain shows that are considered our great TV Dramas, (for example: The Wire, Deadwood, Mad Men etc) they are truly hilarious at times. Roger Stirling from Mad Men is hilarious. “When god closes a door, he opens a dress”

But personally? One show stands above the rest has far as comedy chops. Sometimes I think it IS a comedy. It can do the highest of the high brow, it is not above juvenile yet hilarious fart jokes, and has some truly wonderful malaprops (“You’re at the precipice of an enormous cross roads”) or juxtaposition gags.

That show?

The Sopranos.

Whether it’s Paulie and Christopher getting lost in the woods, Christopher’s intervention, Paulie Walnuts going to a psychic, Phil Leotardo demanding someone turn off a body building program, or almost everything Uncle Junior says or does…I can laugh just thinking about this show.

Carmela taking a trip to experience European culture, marvelling at the poetry, wonder, and beauty of Paris architecture, statues & skies asking “Who could have built this?” Immediately followed by a hard cut to Silvio Dante overseeing the cleaning of the “Bada Bing” Strip Club signage “Make sure you clean that shit off her tit!” chefs kiss

What are everyone else’s examples? What drama is secretly(or not so secretly) the best comedy!
