AFter the over the top hype about this show I was really expecting something special. What I actually got was a flawed, but still enjoyable Alien show. It was perfectly passable Saturday evening entertainment.

But saying its in the same league as Andor?? No. Fuck no, not even close. Its not even nearly as good as Hawley’s Fargo. And I challenge anyone to tell me it is.

I am not one to scream “astroturf” every time a show I am not impressed by gets good ratings but this was really out of control. SO MANY breathlessly effusive positive reviews for a show that clearly has serious issues right off the bat. Namely there is no character that the audience really can connect to.

T Olyphant’s character is extremely thin and he has been given very little to do. The Jeff Zuch character is hateable but he is supposed to be hateable. The Wendy character is clearly the one the show runners want you to ID with but the actress is playing it sort of aloof and I find her hard to empathize with. Just staring into the camera with big eyes is not acting.

All in all I did enjoy it but I really hope it improves dramatically going forward.
