I watched The Pitt about 2 weeks ago and the first episode of Alien Earth last night.

The Pitt: competent people do their jobs well and if they don’t know how to do their job or if they run into an unexpected situation, they get help. Even then, things might not work out well but that’s how life is.

Alien: Earth: allegedly competent people make weird decisions and do their jobs poorly. The most intelligent person on the planet decides to send results of his super secret artificial human project into a crash zone with unknown biological specimens kicking around. Oh and the artificial humans have the emotional intelligence and experience of teenagers. And then there’s the soldiers who don’t GTFO or call for backup (they’re in a city named after the corporation they work for, there would be backup) at the first sign of weird alien life on board.

The Pitt required no suspension of disbelief about human behavior from me. Alien: Earth required too much. Suspension of disbelief will always be required in sci-fi. But there are limits and once I hit that limit the show/movie wears out its welcome.
