Unless it was done on purpose, CSI: Miami was intended to be an action police drama. From the start, the David Caruso glasses + line gimmick became an early meme. However, on watching the show during it’s incessant reruns, it is almost a parody of a cop show. From the impossible technology available just as they need it to the over-the-top danger they are in every single week to the sexy way Horatio says, “Eric,” it is too funny. Add to that the dour expression on Frank as he sets up Horatio’s next line to soap opera going on in the background with relationships I don’t even fully understand to the fact that I’m not quite sure what Mr. Wolf’s role is from week to week. I just love this show because it never fails to amuse me.

Can anyone think of another show that was meant to be a drama that ended up so campy that people think of it as funny? I can’t think of any. Maybe the 1960s revival of Dragnet.
