Been hanging out with a guy for a few days and he seemed great, was very sweet, funny, we had a spark, lots of the same hobbies.
He expressed interest in a romantic relationship. We started heading that direction. Since things were going to eventually get sexual, I told him (over text) that since I am childfree if I were to somehow end up pregnant, I would abort.
He started talking about how he was against abortion if someone was being “careless” and how he wasn’t sure he could stay with a partner if they ended a pregnancy during the relationship. He said he only understood abortion in cases of rape or the mother’s life being in danger. I told him that I was no longer interested in pursuing a relationship because as someone who is hugely pro choice, our values didn’t match up.
He immediately began to backpeddle. He said I was misunderstanding him and that he was overall very neutral towards abortion. That he “doesnt have the right to control someone else’s body”. He claimed that none of this even mattered anyway because he probably would not be able to get me pregnant due to a medical condition. He was upset that I was “throwing all this away over a misunderstanding”.
Just…why? The fact that he spent several long text messages trying to gaslight me into thinking him literally typing out he was “against abortion” word for word meant something else is also extremely concerning.
I just dont want to date anymore at this point.
