I’ve been busy these past few months, so I gravitated toward video games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Last Of Us, since I can go through the story at my own pace. Now I feel like breaking the monotony, so I’ve thought about starting a show again.
I’ve tried starting Dexter, MobLand, and Bad Blood, but I couldn’t make it through the first episode of any of these shows.
Part of it is the time commitment - Dexter for example has 8 seasons, a sequel miniseries (New Blood), a prequel (Original Sin) and another sequel series (Ressurection). This didn’t use to be a problem for me. Most of my favorite TV shows (Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Justified) are pretty lengthy too.
Then there’s the long gaps between seasons these days, with shows taking longer breaks. That’s why I kinda prefer watching a show when it’s complete.
Right now I feel like the only shows I could start and actually keep watching are one I have already watched, because I know they’ll keep me hooked. But still, I also want to try something new, I don’t want to rewatch things over and over.
Has anyone else gone through this TV burnout phase?
