Brilliant article for those who haven’t read it. I’ve marked down some quotes included below. Son was a great player and I could never dislike him, very rarely have I had so much respect for a rival player that no one could really find a genuine reason to hate regardless of their allegiance. In the PL his character and his football will be missed. Thank you, Son.

Ange Postecoglou: "I made him (Son) a big focus of our Europa (League) run because I thought he was symbolic of where people saw the club. Obviously he’s an outstanding player but was missing that key piece of success…I would constantly tell the players, because we had a young group, that the measure of any person is not always their achievements. It’s about how they treat other people…(Son) was constantly giving back. It was a great example to everyone, myself included, that irrespective of how great a career you have and how high the esteem you’re held in, it’s the way you treat people that’s a greater measure than anything else…I doubt you could find one person to say something negative about him, (that’s) just incredible.”

James Maddison: "Sonny is Tottenham. And Tottenham is Sonny. It’s weird to think about Tottenham Hotspur without Son.”

Kevin Wimmer (Son’s former Spurs teammate): "On the first day, he was already always smiling. He knew that I spoke German, so from the first day on, we had a special connection. You could just feel that he’s such an amazing character. He was so nice to everyone — and to me — from the start.”
