When a coordinator accepts a HC position, what happens to the playbook they were using with their prior team? Do they have “non-competes” where they have to recreate a new playbook in an entire off season? What happens if it’s an offensive minded coordinator (Ben Johnson / Campbell) with a HC who doesn’t call plays? What happens if it’s an offensive minded coordinator with a HC who does call plays (KOC & Mcvay)? Are they ultimately just coming up with plays similar to their prior head coaches playbook? I assume they can’t just take a playbook with them to their new team for various reasons….
