One of the worst defenses in college football last season, on an 1-11 team, held the Alabama Crimson Tide to 10 points until 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Combined, the two Alabama quarterbacks faired poorly against the USF defense under HC Alex Golesh, former Tennessee OC. Both quarterbacks went a total 10/23. The Bulls sacked Alabama 5 TIMES. South Florida found a way into the backfield and challenged Alabama at the line of scrimmage, preventing any significant improvised rushing plays.
Alabama did not have a good showing yesterday at QB. There is A LOT of football to be played:
- Alabama must find a solution in the QB game based on this stat line. How?
- Recognize South Florida’s defense and the tremendous season the Bulls are about to have in the AAC if they play like this. Well done, Bulls.
Would look forward to seeing your thoughts below.
(Edit: it should be stated, USF has a new DC, Todd Orlando, and transfers that have made a difference. It’s not 100% fair to call this the same 1-11 defense, but the comparison still stands)
