Seeing a lot of redpilled types harping on about “Daddy Issues”. 90% of the time, they’re just applying it to any woman who has tattoos, piercings, dyed hair, etc. and seems comfortable in her sexuality, which is a bizarre mentality.
“You don’t meet my personal standards for Appropriate Female Gender Expression, so I’ve constructed a fantastical version of your childhood in my head that left you as a profoundly damaged little girl desperate for male attention”. Yes, totally, that’s what having a tattoo means, you did it, big brain genius boy.
But even the basic concept drives me nuts.
- Anybody who has a bad/non-existent relationship with a parent of any gender can end up with an unhealthy attachment style and need for validation, security, etc., this isn’t something unique to women and their fathers.
- “Daddy issues” is only attributed to women and fathers, meanwhile half the men I know have weird relationships with their dads. They’ll say shit like “I think the closest I ever got to making my dad proud of me was when I got in a fistfight with him when I was 15” and yet nobody calls their unhealthy relationship patterns "Daddy Issues"
- It’s always framed in this creepy predatory way: This woman has issues that can be easily exploited for sex, but instead of being empathetic, men take full advantage and laugh at her with their friends later. It makes her something worthy of scorn, a thing that deserves to be used.
- Big time weirdo incest implications
I’d kill to do away with the entire idea of “Daddy Issues”
EDIT: and before anybody can say “Obviously has Daddy Issues”, no, I get along with my dad, actually. My mom is the reason I have a fearful-avoidant attachment style, lol in your face.
