Gifs yes, videos only in certain formats (like mp4), youtube videos not directly. And it seems to cause some minor issues between instances, so not everyone will be able to view the videos/gifs without workarounds.
Lemmy.world users seem to be able to view both the clip in the main post, and the embedded link in the description, but if you’re on kbin then the first link won’t work as intended.
If you want to post an embedded gif/mp4 then do it in this format:
