The Big Ten East is having a nice start to the year, going 14-1, with the 1 loss being Indiana vs OSU (a big ten east vs big ten east matchup).

Here’s a quick breakdown of who those 13 wins outside the division came against:

  • 5 FCS teams
  • 5 G5 teams
  • 2 P5 non con teams
  • 1 Big ten west team

So obviously, ease of schedule is playing into this, but in years past, the weaker teams in the division would inevitably drop a game against some G5 team (sometimes even an FCS team). Could this strong start be an early indication of a blood bath in the Big ten east this year, or is it a fluke? Is this the best division in all of CFB?

All opponents in week 3 for big ten east teams come outside the division, presenting a great opportunity to build on that 13-0 record:

  • UVA @ Maryland - Maryland won 42-14
  • PSU @ Illinois (PSU -14.5)
  • Louisville @ Indiana (Louisville -10)
  • VaTech @ Rutgers (Rutgers -7)
  • Western Kentucky @ OSU (OSU -30)
  • Washington @ MSU (Wash-16.5)
  • Bowling Green @ Michigan (Mich -40.5)

Vegas has the undefeated streak ending with both IU and MSU predicted to lose. Both teams are at home though so maybe we’ll get some voodoo magic.
