I've been lurking in this subreddit for a while now and I've really enjoyed some of the ideas and theories floated around here. I understand that many of the members of this subreddit are very adamantly against individuals identifying as libertarians if they don't correctly understand the principles of the movement, so I want to gain a full understanding of the movement lest I missapply the term.

I wanted to ask, if in your perspective being a libertarianism is compatible with advocating protectionism Can a libertarian believe that government should not interfere in the domestic market and domestic commerce, but should play an active role in protection of domestic labourers and produce through tarrifs? Can a libertarian believe that the government should limit immigration as greater diversity could potentially disturb the social order? In summary, can someone who advocates for reducing government influence domestically but believes government should advocate national causes as it pertains to foreign affairs be qualified a libertarian?

Thank you for your time :)
