INTRO
If you were ever wondering if there’s a madman that counts the commercials and tracks them and put them in a database. Yes. There is. Here’s my 2024-2025 NFL Commercial Counter
Now, while I understand there are several ways to watch the game, whether it’s TV or something else. I only counted the non-local commercials on my TV. That being said I have counted and timed all the commercials, brand, which team had the most commercials per brand, non-commercial time, broadcast average, and on and on, for every primetime game. This time I went bigger and better than before counting all of the international games too!
For those wondering why I started this, I started in the playoffs seven years ago, as a joke. It blew up and people have been requesting it. Now I’m everywhere in game threads that you might not expect me to be in lol!
HISTORY
I started tracking everything 5 years ago, but some things didn’t start getting tracked until later, as for example the Non-Commercial Time was not tracked until 2 years ago for both regular season and postseason.
NFL COMPARSION STATS
- Target aired 47 non-local commercials, these players had 47 targets last season:
- RB Ameer Abdullah
- WR Brandon Aiyuk
- WR Christian Kirk
- RB Jaylen Warren
- These 4 players had as many receptions than the total non-local commercial average last season (110):
- WR Ja’Marr Chase (127)
- WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (115)
- TE Brock Bowers (112)
- TE Trey McBride (111)
- Lamar Jackson (119.6) and Jared Goff (111.8) were the only QBs last season to have a higher passer rating than the total non-local commercial average of 110.
- Justin Fields averaged 110.6 passing yards per game, which is .6 more than the total non-local commercial average of 110.
- Saquon Barkley (125.3) and Derrick Henry (113.0) ran over the competition… as they had more rushing yards per game than the total non-local commercial average of 110.
- The season high of most non-local commercials in a game last season was 142. These kickers deserve the shoutout for scoring more points than 142.
- Chris Boswell (158)
- Brandon Aubrey (150)
- Cameron Dicker (150)
- Chase McLaughlin (144)
- Jake Bates (142)
- In the playoffs, the total non-local commercial average was 112. If we put that number into average rushing yards per game in team ranks. It would be right in the middle at 16th.
- During Week 12, In the 4th Quarter, we saw more commercial time (18:37) than the Chargers offense time of possession 4th quarter TRIPLED (15:06)
