My friend and I got into a long discussion about this the other day and I thought it was interesting and want to hear others perspectives on this. My thoughts are coming from the perspective of a straight woman and of course even people with the same sexual preferences will have different things that are attractive to them so I’m interested to hear other perspectives on this.

I guess it’s easiest to give the example of female nudity/sexualization in shows and movies. Nowadays you see a lot of full on nudity of women, but still it’s rare to even see a man’s ass. My friend and I were like why don’t they sexualize the men if they’re fine sexualizing the women? Which led us to discussing how they would do that, what they would show, and we honestly came up blank. Besides a man’s actual dick, what is sexual about men that could be “exploited” the way women’s bodies are exploited?

I suppose some people may find a super buff guy or a man with abs with his shirt off as sexual, personally that in itself doesn’t “turn me on” and even if it does for you, I don’t think it could be considered the same caliber as the sexualization of women. It’s like everything about a woman’s body is inherently sexual. Their shape, curves, the way they dress and act, breasts, ass, etc. What is the equivalent of that for men? When you see a man’s ass on screen is that sexy? For me not at all lmfao.

So what do you think? Is it even possible to sexualize men to the same degree as women?

ETA : I meant to clarify at the end of my post that I’m not trying to say I think it’s okay to sexualize ANYONE or that we should be trying to sexualize men more to make it “even”. Just an interesting conversation about the inherent differences between men and women’s sexualization in society!!
