I saw this post on another subreddit, it was a video of a woman giving a tour of her house. She’d made some very eclectic design choices (her bathroom walls were covered in computer keyboards, she had a collection of nail clipper art, and a wall covered in photos of worms) and so many of the reddit comments were calling her fake, claiming she was doing it for male attention, calling her a pick me. And I feel like I see this not infrequently, when women have unusual hobbies there’s always this scrutiny like “She’s just doing it for male attention, to be quirky and unique she doesn’t actually LIKE it”. When men have weird hobbies people might make judgmental comments about the hobby being weird, but no one questions his interest in it. No one looks at a dude with an anime body pillow and goes “Oh he’s just pretending to be into My Little Pony so women will date him”.

Women do not exist only in the context of men’s interest in them! Also why the hell would have a wall covered in worm pictures make her more desirable to men??? And she’s not a “pick-me” if she’s not putting other women down. If you see a woman talking about how she enjoys an activity and your first thought is “She’s faking this to make other women look worse so she can get dates” you have a problem.
