Original Title: Greg Sankey on playoff selection: “CFP Management Committee meetings focused on Selection Committee protocol evaluation and updates, considering an improved strength of schedule analysis, and introduction of a possible new strength of record metric”
On the College Football Playoff:
“June’s CFP Management Committee meetings focused on Selection Committee protocol evaluation and updates, considering an improved strength of schedule analysis, and introduction of a possible new strength of record metric which, consistent with my comments after our Spring Meetings, we view as the right directions for CFP focus. More work is needed and more needs to be understood but we view this as the current right direction with the need for timely decision-making.”
On SEC football schedule:
“We will continue to evaluate increasing the number of SEC games from eight to nine. As I have said repeatedly, understanding how the CFP will evaluate “strength of schedule” and “strength of record” is a critically important part of our football schedule decision making.”
