Original Title: WaPo’s investigative report on Deion Sanders’ charter school should bother anyone who has a kid, who has attended school, or who’s paying any attention. One example: Sanders’ school was kicked out of the Federal School Lunch program because they pocketed the funds without serving lunch

Colorado is my home. I want the Buffs to be good. I’m also an FSU alum. Deion was one of the best players in Seminole history. I was really excited about Deion coming to Boulder. I should be even more excited now.

But ever since I read the Washington Post’s investigative report on Deion Sanders’ defunct charter school (“Prime Academy”), and how he and his school actively harmed their students… I can’t be excited about it anymore.

And I feel like people who follow college football really should know about Prime Academy. It’s that bad.

What drove home the insanity of all of this to me, is that Deion Sanders’ school was kicked out of the Federal School Lunch Program after the federal government found they weren’t actually using those funds to feed their students lunch. What’s sad is that this arguably wasn’t their biggest problem.

This goes beyond college football. Deion’s/the school’s dereliction of duty towards the students at Prime Academy is shocking. After reading the article, I don’t see how Deion Sanders can be trusted to hold kids’ futures in his hands.
