I had no idea The Pitt even existed until I kept seeing random posts show up on this sub and I finally caught on and started watching at around episode 8, almost two months into its run and it was amazing. Its weekly release schedule allowed the show to slowly build up buzz and let people catch on and then they got to the mass shooting event, and it felt like the show really exploded in popularity.
Of course, a show has to be good to begin with or else no one watches but the Pitt was on the air for 15 episodes which is damn near 4 months of being in the public consciousness and thats not including the people that caught on afterwards.
Netflix is still king of the streaming services but aside from a few huge megahits, every show seems to dominate for like a month and then promptly fall into obscurity. Stranger Things is still a massive show but the long wait time in between seasons just guarantees it top billing for like a month or two and then it’s gone.
If you truly want a show to succeed and build up an audience, a weekly release schedule is still the best way to do that.
I’m not saying what is your favorite method to see episodes, whether it’s all at once or weekly, all I’m saying is that the weekly release schedule is better for shows to have some staying power.
