Upfront: I’ve never seen a second of Letterkenny.
I happened to catch a clip of Shoresy on IG and thought, “I have a six hour flight coming up, this show has great reviews, and there are only six episodes per season with each episode being between 18 & 30 minutes long. Let’s do this.”
I’m so happy I did. At first, it just seems like this guy is going to be a loud, vulgar cliche. But, the longer I watched, the more I realized it was actually telling a story and while some of the characters don’t get fleshed out too much, I ended up being so invested - not just in Shoresy’s life, but the lives of the team owner(s), the others who do get some time to shine, and I couldn’t stop watching. Or laughing.
For a show that seemed like one thing at the start, it left me feeling very happily surprised and warm. While it was hilarious, it also had an earned, authentic sweetness to it. I can’t wait for season five.
