If nobody has heard yet, the congress has introduced a bill (HB4953) that after its enacting date adds any semiautomatic rifle, that has a detachable box magazine to the NFA gun registry. Failure to register any lawfully owned rifle within 120 days will land you in a federal prison and a considerable (fucking huge) fine. The National Firearms Act (1934 ) was deemed constitutional at the time of its passage because it is a tax code and is not in violation of the 2nd amendment (even though it is). The fact that the government will lock you away and give you hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines for not complying with a $200 tax on a rifle is a blatant violation of the 8th amendment.
In order for the government to prosecute you, they have determine whether or not you have purchased a firearm. When you purchase a firearm, a form 4473 is filled out by the buyer and is sent to the ATF where they perform a background check. After the background check, the ATF discards the information they receive, thus, the responsibility of the FFL is to keep purchase records for 20 years. This means the only way the ATF can get to your door, is by the cooperation of FFL holders. What Federal Firearm License holders need to do now to combat congress and the ATF, is to shred every single form 4473 that they have. doing this is the only way to combat government over reach, and the only way to keep you out of prison if it is passed.
I have spoken
